Directions
Gibbons Creek Reservoir is a convenient family destination in Central Texas.
Just 30 minutes from the Bryan-College Station area, the reservoir is a great place
to visit for the day or stay overnight during a weekend of Aggie football.
Located just a few short minutes from I-45, the Reservoir is easily accessible from
both the Dallas and Houston areas.
From Bryan/College Station
- Take Hwy 30 east (toward Huntsville) 18 miles to small town of Carlos
- Turn north on FM 244
- The entrance to GCR is about .5 miles on the right, next to Yankees Tavern
From Houston:
- Take I-45 west (toward Dallas) about 50 miles to city of Huntsville
- Turn west on Hwy 30 and proceed about 35 miles to small town of Carlos Turn north
on FM 244
- The entrance to GCR is about .5 miles on the right, next to Yankees Tavern
From Dallas
- Take I-45 south ( toward Houston) 145 miles to city of Madisonville
- Turn west on Hwy 21 and go about 15 miles to small town of North Zulch Turn south
on FM 39 and proceed about 12 miles to small town of Iola
- In Iola, turn south on FM 244 and go about 10 miles The entrance to GCR is about
10 miles on the left, just past Yankees Tavern
